Minus 33

With a view to providing high quality warm garments to the outdoor community Minus 33 was established in 1916. Minus 33 is basically a part of L.W. Packard, a famous and well established wool fabric manufacturing company. The brand is headquartered in New Hampshire; recently manufacturing plant has been moved to Asia to compete in global economy.
High quality, warm and comfortable garments was a long demand for the active Outdoor community. There was a real gap between what was available and what was expected. In addition, poorly constructed synthetic garments were sold at expensive price. Minus33 aimed to fill that gap in the market.
Minus 33 products are tested in New Hampshire which possesses some of the world’s worst weather and in this playground we discovered that nature has given mankind the best fiber in the world (Merino Wool). All we need to do is craft those to equip avid outdoor athletes.

The Difference

COMFORT

Fashion is not just about how you look but how you feel, and Merino Wool has numerous natural attributes that make it one of the most comfortable of fabrics to wear. Its superfine fibers feel like silk next to the skin. It also has the ability to respond to changes in temperature, keeping one warm when it is cold or absorbing moisture and releasing it as you exert yourself. Winter or summer, Merino Wool has you feeling great.

BREATHABILITY
In extreme exertion, you need a garment that 'breathes', which means it must be able to absorb perspiration and release it into the air. No fabric does that quite like Merino. The hydrophilic core of the Merino Wool fiber has an amazing capacity to absorb liquid - up to 35% of its own weight - so it's better than synthetics at removing sweat from the skin, moving it away, and releasing it as vapor.

MULTI-CLIMATE
While synthetics are passive, Merino Wool is active, reacting to changes in ones body temperature to keep you warm when you're cold but releasing heat and moisture when you're hot.

ELASTICITY
The natural elasticity of the Merino Wool fiber means they stretch with the wearer, but then return to their natural shape so there is less chance of garments sagging or losing their shape.

Health
Australian Merino Wool has a number of health benefits such as it helps people to gain weight, offers improved sleep and reduced risk of SIDS for babies. Moreover, it has lower incidence of microbial infection.

SOFTNESS
With Merino Wool prickly feeling is an obsolete idea. This wool fits luxuriously gentle against your skin.

SWEAT/MOISTURE REMOVAL
Merino Wool is more effective than synthetics at absorbing sweat next to the skin, and moving it away to evaporate, helping to keep you cool and dry during exertion.

WICKING
Merino Wool is ideal wool from making socks due to its weakly wicking characteristics. However, this feature can be enhanced or reduced by the application of different finishing treatments.

EASY CARE

Merino Wool has a natural resilience and truly easy-care. As this wool is resistant to stains and odors less washing is required compared to cotton or synthetic garments. Innate elasticity further lessens the need of ironing and increase durability. With the advancement of manufacturing technology machine-washable suit is now a reality.

ANTI-WRINKLE & DURABILITY
Merino Wool garments are wrinkle resistant due to its compact coil spring and ability to get back the natural shape quickly after being bent. In addition, it can be bent 20,000 times without breaking which suggests longer durability.

MACHINE WASHABLE
With latest innovations Merino Wool garments are now compatible for machine wash and tumble drying. In reality, the world’s first machine-washable wool suit is now available.

ODER REDUCING
As Marino Wool is capable of absorbing moisture it can reduce the amount of odor produced from the body.

QUICK DRYING
Latest technology enables Merino wool to be as quick drying if compared to that of synthetics.

STAIN RESISTANT
Merino Wool fiber has a protective layer which prevents stains from being absorbed. And as it's static-resistant, it picks up less dust and lint from the air.

100% NATURAL

100% NATURAL FIBER / RENEWABLE, BIODEGRADABLE
Merino Wool has served mankind tremendously but it is not made in laboratory by scientists. More than a million years ago it has been evolved literally in field. Every year a new man-made fiber is trumpeted as the latest technology but comparative testing and scientific analysis reveals they all fall short to Merino Wool in terms of all-round performance. Still now the world’s finest fiber is 100% natural Merino wool. In this environmental crisis time its biodegradability and sustainability are highly marketable properties. Merino Wool is a renewable resource, totally different from petrochemical-based synthetics or water-resource heavy cotton. Merino Wool ultimately is biodegradable and get back to their natural elements.

PERFORMANCE

ANTI-STATIC / BREATHABILITY / MULTI-CLIMATE / CONTROLLED FELTING / HANDLE AND DRAPE / MOISTURE ABSORPTION / ODOR REDUCING / SOFTNESS / SWEAT&MOISTURE
Mountaineers and elite athletes can perform at their best by virtue of a wide range of attributes of Merino Wool. Definitely, warmth that Merino provides has been a life saver but the more remarkable point is its breathability, buffering changes in the micro-climate that is conducive to optimal performance. Amazing moisture absorbing capacity will remove uncomfortable sweat; natural odor resistance gives you more freedom on a walk through rainforest with companion. You will always feel the ultimate dryness because of water repellent feature, anti-static properties prevent garments clinging. In essence, from every possible angle Merino Wool not just performs but out-performs.

SAFETY

The Merino sheep has been exposed to extreme winters and blazing summers over the last million years. It’s usual that its fleece has got some amazing attributes that saves life in hazardous environments. Natural UV protection, fire resistance and application in bulletproof vests are therefore not surprising.

ANTI-STATIC
Due to its great moisture absorption quality Merino wool doesn’t cling to one’s body.

CONTROLLED FELTING
Australian merino wool is equipped with felting, milling or fulling that provides reduces air permeability, increased thickness and strength.

FIRE RESISTANCE
Merino is literally fire resistant, even in high temperature or direct exposure to fire it doesn’t readily catch fire. If source of flame is removed it self-extinguishes. Another important feature is it doesn’t melt and stick to the skin when burnt. That is why many firefighters’ uniforms are made from this wool.

HANDLE AND DRAPE
Due to the fineness of the fibers Merino Wool has excellent natural handle and terrific drape.

UV PROTECTION
It is scientifically tested and a proven fact that Merino has a natural UV protection factor of 30+ in greater than 70% of cases. The percentage is much higher than most synthetics and cotton. In harsh summer time merino active-wear literally blocks sun’s deadly rays.
